MetService says while Cyclone Hale is weakening over the North Island, heavy rain and strong winds will continue to hit some areas for the next few hours.

It comes into effect at 2pm today and covers all of Leinster, as well as Cavan, Monaghan, Tipperary, and Waterford.

Both alerts take effect from 10pm tonight.
