Mumbai, Feb 1 : The ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) allies Shiv Sena-Nationalist Congress Party-Congress allies on Monday slammed the Union Budget 2021-2022 of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman as a national betrayal , letter of intent to sell off government assets and doing injustice to Maharashtra while the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) termed it as path-breaking and all-inclusive.

MUMBAI: The MSEDCL on Wednesday announced its bill arrears had mounted to Rs 63,740 crore and officials will now disconnect power supply of consumers who fail to clear pending electricity dues, especially for the Lockdown months.
Citizens had protested and many had not paid their electricity bills after receiving hefty bills between April and June, 2020. Some got bills as high as Rs 40,000 to Rs 60,000.
“We had given a lot of options to consumers paying in instalments, waiver of the penalty for delayed payment and also rebate for one-time payment of bills. As per directions of power minister Nitin Raut, we did not disconnect a single connection till December 31. But now it’s time to be stringent and demand pending dues,” said an official. Of the total arrears which need to be recovered, the agricultural consumers have to pay Rs 45,498 crore, an official said. Fruitful discussion possible if farmers come for talks
Shetkari Sanghatana (SS) President Anil Ghanwat said that he would not resign from the committee set up by the Supreme Court to resolve the standoff over farm laws. Ghantwat’s statement comes against the backdrop of Bhupinder Singh Mann, national president of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU), refusing to join the committee.

BusinessLine on Friday Ghanwat said, “I’m not going to succumb to any pressure. The Supreme Court has appointed me and I’m going to fulfil the task given to me. I appeal to farmers to join the discussions with the committee”. Ghanwat added that the solution to the standoff could be found only if farmers came forward for discussions.
