Developer Ralph Duda cited comments made by commissioners at a recent planning and zoning meeting to argue his project wont get a fair shake.

Developer Ralph Duda is proposing a 5- to 6-story complex with two restaurants, retail and offices spaces and at least two floors of lofts.

The meeting was a public hearing regarding BK&Ms application for a zoning map amendment for the northwest corner of Sunshine Street and National Avenue.

The recommendations are in response to a neighborhood meeting that ended abruptly when an angry resident called the developers wife a gender-based slur.

Mark and Courtney Fletcher are University Heights residents that have been extremely vocal in the effort to stop the development.

More demolitions could occur as the development company has applied for demolition permits for other homes in the block.

The developer said he hopes to ease some of the neighbors concerns.

Residents were concerned by increased traffic, the destruction of historic buildings and the future of the University Heights neighborhood.

The neighborhood meeting ended abruptly when one angry homeowner called the developers wife a gender-based slur and cursed at his father.
