Flood losses put at ₹15,410 crore Updated: Updated: Central team urged to ensure early aid Share Article Central team urged to ensure early aid Estimating the losses due to rain and floods in September and October to be about ₹15,410 crore, the State government on Sunday urged the Centre to provide assistance so that relief could be taken up in the affected regions of the State. During his interaction with the inter-ministerial Central team, led by Ramesh Kumar Ganta, here on Sunday, Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa pointed out that probably for the first time the State faced floods in both Krishna and Bhima basins in a single year. “After the August floods, the State experienced two more spells of very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall during the second fortnight of September and second and third week of October,” he told the delegation.

Central team visits flood-hit areas in Kalaburagi

The Central team taking stock of the situation in Kalaburagi district on Monday.   A two-member inter-ministerial central team comprising Ramesh Kumar Ganta, joint secretary, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Union Ministry of Home Affairs, and Bhartendu Kumar Singh, director at Department of Expenditure, Union Ministry of Finance, on Monday, visited a few areas in Kalaburagi that were hit by floods in October this year. State Disaster Management Authority commissioner Manoj Rajan, Kalaburagi Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jyothsna, zilla panchayat Chief Executive Officer P. Raja, and other senior officers accompanied the team. Earlier in the day, the team held a meeting with senior officials of different departments in the district administration at the Deputy Commissioner’s office to take stock of the situation.
