This year marks the 30th anniversary of the first charter school law. Since then, a fledgling idea to create a new type of public school grew into a powerful movement that has touched millions of students and forever changed the trajectories of their lives. Death increase: The number of deaths from all causes last year in Ohio far exceeded previous years, with an increase well above the 9,500 that have been attributed to the coronavirus, Rich Exner reports. Preliminary data from the Ohio Department of Health shows that 139,072 Ohioans died in 2020, up 17,225 from the average of 121,847 over the past five years.
