With the new year comes a new hike in bridge tolls on seven state-owned bridges in the Bay Area. And this hike will put rush-hour tolls on the Bay Bridge at a whopping $8 per car a 167% increase from the $3 we were paying in 2003.

Hanna Whitney, a current senior at Huntington North High School, is the recipient of the 2021 Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship in Huntington County.
The scholarship, administered locally through the Huntington County Community Foundation, affords Whitney four years of otherwise unreimbursed full tuition and required fees to an accredited public or private nonprofit college or university in Indiana, as well as a special allocation of up to $900 for required books and equipment.
Although she is currently undecided as to which university she will attend, those under consideration include Notre Dame, Hanover and Indiana universities. She intends to pursue a career in the field of medicine.
