INDIANA COUNTY REPUBLICAN COMMITTEE VOTES TO CENSURE BOTH SENATORS TOOMEY AND CASEY

Indiana, PA / WDAD AM1450 & 100.3FM Feb 26, 2021 8:47 AM Last night, the Indiana County Republican Committee approved a resolution to censure both of Pennsylvania’s U.S. Senators over their votes to convict former President Donald Trump in his second impeachment trial. Republican Pat Toomey and Democrat Bob Casey, Jr. both voted to convict Trump in connection with the riots at the U.S. Capitol Building on January 6 th.  Randy Degenkolb, serving in his first meeting of the committee as their chairman, said the vote concerned a few issues with the constitutionality of the hearing.   Last night’s vote came after the state Republican Committee tried to hold a similar vote on Wednesday night, but was unable to get a definitive vote as the group had technical difficulties with the virtual meeting.  Toomey was also present during Wednesday night’s lengthy meeting to defend his vote.

COUNTY REPUBLICAN COMMITTEE TO TAKE UP TOOMEY CENSURE VOTE

Indiana, PA / WDAD AM1450 & 100.3FM Feb 25, 2021 11:17 AM A lengthy virtual meeting for the Pennsylvania Republican Committee last night ended without a decision on whether or not to censure U.S. Senator Pat Toomey for his vote to convict former President Donald Trump. Jesse Daniel, one of the Indiana County party representatives in attendance last night, said that when it came to a vote, technical difficulties made getting a definitive vote impossible.  The meeting ended at 11:30 with no definite decision reached.  Daniel said that there will be another meeting next week and another vote to Censure Toomey will be held. A similar vote is expected to be held tonight during a meeting of the Indiana County Republican Committee.  Daniel said they do not expect any of the problems with last night’s state-wide meeting to carry over to tonight’s meeting, and he also expects people to vote their conscience on this issue.
