UC Davis continues to attract high numbers of undergraduate applicants. For fall 2023, a total of 109,350 applied — just shy of last year’s record.

Winter quarters typically see a decline of several hundred students from the start of the academic year.

Ultimately, UCSB didn’t execute the bulk of the campus development plan that it spent nearly a decade crafting with community members and local governments.

Of the total students enrolled, 23,460 are undergraduates, reflecting the highest levels of undergraduate enrollment at UCSB to date.

S.U.N. also accused UCSB of violating its agreement with the university by not adequately addressing the issue of student housing.

UCSB is also in litigation from the city of Goleta over allegedly violating plans to add housing and cap enrollment under the Long Range Development Plan.

The Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday voted unanimously to enter into litigation with UC Santa Barbara for alleged violation of its 2010 Long Range Development Plan that requires the university to build more housing to keep up with the expanding student population, an action that the board does not "take lightly."

UCSB housing has not kept up with the increase in student enrollment.

More student housing for the University of California-Irvine may be on the horizon thanks to the Irvine Co.

UC Santa Barbara in May received the green light to move forward on a new 540-unit residential housing project for faculty and staff as the university and surrounding college town continue to struggle with a mounting housing crisis.
