KENDRAPADA: A 30-year-old man was arrested on Monday for burning alive his wife (24) in Gahirapada village under Naugaon police station limits in Jagatsinghpur district.
The accused, Lipu Biswal, poured kerosene over his wife, Lipsa Biswal, and set her ablaze on December 17 night. She was allegedly being tortured by her husband for dowry since their marriage in 2018.
Police swung into action after the victim’s father, Ranjit Baral of Bhatana village, filed a police complaint. “After conducting proper investigation, we arrested the accused,” said IIC of Naugaon police station Bharat Behera. The accused was produced in the local court on Monday. The court rejected his bail application.
