Five AHS Students Selected to Attend Arkansas Boys/Girls State Congratulations to these Arkansas High School students that have been selected to attend the week-long program at the Arkansas Boys State and the Arkansas Girls State. These programs have been inspiring high school juniors into becoming future leaders in all levels of communities and government since the 1940s. Congratulations to these Arkansas High School students were nominated and accepted to attend Arkansas Boys State: • Rashad Thrower (junior) TASD • Evin Burton (senior) (will be attending as a senior, since Boys State was cancelled last year due to COVID-19.) TASD Arkansas Boys State has been around since 1940. Previous young men have gone on to become incredible leaders, including President Bill Clinton, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, and Senator Tom Cotton.

Arkansas High School Students Prepare to Attend Governor s School

KTOY Arkansas High School students Summer Barrick, KeeYonece Butler, Rashad Thrower, and Benjamin Tripp Wilson have been selected to attend the 42nd Annual Arkansas Governor’s School (AGS) hosted at Arkansas Tech University. Selection for Governor’s School is based on a combination of ability and interest and is highly competitive.  The Arkansas Governor’s School (AGS) is a four-week summer residential program for upcoming high school seniors who are residents of the state of Arkansas. The program is funded by the Arkansas State Legislature as a portion of the biennial appropriation for Gifted and Talented Programs through the Arkansas Department of Education. State funds provide tuition, room, board, and instructional materials for each student who attends the four-week program on the site of a residential college campus sponsored by the State.
