Latest version of the professional development toolchain IAR Embedded Workbench for Arm supports the versatile Raspberry Pi Pico development board based on a dual-core Arm Cortex-M0+ processor
Raspberry Pi-designed RP2040 chip now available from Farnell Farnell has announced that the RP2040 chip, found at the heart of the Raspberry Pi Pico development board, is now available as a standalone chip.
The Raspberry Pi RP2040 microcontroller offers high performance for integer workloads, a large on-chip memory, and a wide range of I/O options, making it an extremely flexible solution for a wide range of microcontroller applications..
Key features include:
264 kB of on-chip SRAM
30 multifunction GPIO pins
Four-channel ADC with internal temperature sensor
Built-in USB 1.1 with host and device support.
Commenting Lee Turner, Global Head of Semiconductors and SBC at Farnell, said, âWe are delighted that Raspberry Pi has chosen to make this chip available as a standalone component.

The Raspberry Pi Foundation has announced the availability of the RP2040 as a standalone product at just $1 apiece. The chip was designed by Raspberry Pi and made its debut earlier this year with the launch of the Raspberry Pi Pico microcontroller which also had the low price of just $4.
The Raspberry Pi Foundation describes the RP2040 as the perfect mid-range microcontroller that stands out in three ways; having two fast CPU cores, plenty of RAM, and flexible I/O. The RP2040 comes with two ARM Cortex-M0+ cores clocked at 133 MHz which allows code to run in parallel with hardware supervision and there’s 264KB of RAM so you don’t need to spend time optimising your code.
