Disney+'s latest Marvel Cinematic Universe series, "Mrs. Marvel," premieres this month, as does the "Big Hero 6" spinoff, "Baymax!"

"Stranger Things" season four debuted on Friday, and was watched for 286 million hours in its first weekend.

The "Top Gun" sequel scored $160 million in the US over the four-day weekend, a Memorial Day opening-weekend record.

Data shows that audiences are also looking forward to Netflix's "Spiderhead," from the director of "Top Gun: Maverick," and Warner Bros.' "Elvis."

There have been 33% fewer widely released movies this year than at the same point in 2019, according to Comscore.

The box office is on the road to recovery, but there are plenty of movies that have underperformed this year.
