This week we travel back to the turbulent times of the late 1960âs. War was raging in Vietnam and the Civil Rights movement was in full swing. News here in Winchester was no different. 53 years ago this week, on April 22, 1968, the front page of âThe Winchester Newsâ reported numerous local deaths and other grim news.Â
James Brady, and his wife Reva, were found dead in their Western Avenue home with 22 caliber bullet wounds a few days prior. The investigation began when James failed to show up at his job at Anchor Hocking on Friday. On Saturday, Allen Brady, 16, the youngest son of the couple and his friend, John Hawley, 17, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Hawley were taken into custody.
