The Pleasant Valley volleyball team's season came to an end Tuesday when the No. 2 seeded Vikings were upset by No. 15 Tamalpais in the opening round of the CIF Division II state playoffs at Valley Gym in Chico. The Red Tailed Hawks defeated the Vikings 25-21, 25-19, 28-26 in a back-and-forth match that featured 23 lead changes in the three set match.
A year ago after the Tam girls volleyball program lost in the North Coast Section semifinals for the third straight season, the following tweet was posted on the team's social media page: "It's safe to say @TamVolleyball is on the map. Everyone will know #HawkYeah from here on out."
It’s not often that a league opener can be said to have massive playoff implications, but in the battle between the girls volleyball teams from Archie Williams and Tam High, that has been the case in recent years.
