The 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals is hearing arguments over Arkansas's first-in-the-nation ban on gender-affirming care for minors today.

An Arkansas law banning transgender care has been struck down because it discriminates against transgender people, violates the free speech rights of doctors and would harm the very young people it seeks to protect.

The trial, the first over a challenge to a state ban on gender-affirming care, concluded last week; the judge has not indicated when he will rule.

The ACLU has so far filed two lawsuits against a panoply of anti-trans, anti-LGBTQ bills passed in Republican-controlled state legislatures.
