Mayor Rick Kriseman is a single day away from handing the keys to city hall to his successor, Ken Welch. He looks back on his many accomplishments and acknowledges the hard work that still needs to be done.

The Tampa Bay Rays continue scouting both sides of the bay and beyond for a potential new home base. Their focus is still on a split-city plan, but many want to know from where the money for a new stadium will come – and whether a bidding war between cities could be on the horizon.

A spokesperson for the mayor's office told FOX 13 the Rays still hope to move forward with their plan to split the team between Tampa Bay and Montreal, which, he says, Castor is open-minded about.

On Wednesday, St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman announced that Midtown Development out of Miami will redevelop Tropicana Field’s 86-acre property into a massive space for retail, offices, housing, and green space that may or may not contain a stadium.

Ken Welch has personal ties to St. Petersburg's Edge District and the Tropicana Field site. His grandfather's wood yard was displaced to make way for I-175 and his church for the Trop. Welch said Wednesday he has redevelopment ideas that could pave a path forward.
