93 years ago today, the epic movie “Cimarron,” based on Edna Ferber’s novel by the same name, opened at Tulsas Ritz Theater with Richard Dix and Irenne Dunne.

The new USA BMX Hall of Fame, headquarters, museum and track complex opened in Tulsa two years ago today.

35 years ago today, on Feb. 14, 1989, Tulsa voters overwhelmingly approved the city’s switch from a mayor-commission form of government (which had been in place since 1908).

13 years ago, Tulsa started the month of February 2011 with a record 24-hour snowfall (14 inches).

Three years ago, the area faced bitter cold weather. The situation was made worse by COVID-19 forcing homeless shelters to reduce capacity to allow social distancing.
