Nike have officially announced their Air Max 95 collaboration(s) and debuted a full apparel capsule. The current head of Dior Men’s and Fendi Womenswear, Jones has been working with the Swoosh since 2016 his last collaborative effort was the genre-bending “Air Dior” collection with Jordan Brand but this marks his first go-around with the Air Max 95, a legendary runner that he names as one of his favorite silhouettes.
To reinterpret the 95, Jones “[looked] at the way it could be addressed with modern technology.” Though its signature anatomy-inspired overlays, rope-like eyelets and split cushioning system are left intact, the designer pulled from other eras of the Swoosh for select pieces. Upper perforations draw from the Air Max 360, the aforementioned eyestays are overlaid by translucent Nexkin material popularized by shoes like the React Element 87 and Zoom Fly SP, and a classic Nike Sportswear mini Swoosh is placed on the toebox.
