State funding for the West Virginia Educational Broadcasting Authority, the governing board of West Virginia Public Broadcasting, is currently up for debate in the West Virginia Legislature. The proposed Senate bill zeroes out $3.8 million in funding for the EBA, while the House bill fully funds it.
In a statement, EBA Chairman Bill File said that everything West Virginia Public Broadcasting does is in service to the people of the Mountain State. I’m confident West Virginia’s Legislature and Administration will work to find a way to continue their critical support of WVPB, File said. The Community Engagement National Project Award was presented to WVPB virtually during The 52nd Annual Public Media Awards (PMAs). The winning initiative was a statewide education outreach program targeting early readers.
