Fears of a second wave of covid-19 infections and a likely surge in inflation from higher crude prices dragged Indian stocks by the most in two months on Monday, in tandem with falling equities and rising bond yields worldwide.
The BSE Sensex fell 1,145.44 points or 2.25% to close at 49,744.32, while the broader Nifty index lost 306.05 points or 2.04% to close at 14,675.70. Indian indices are now 5% below their record highs set after the Union budget on 1 February. The India Volatility Index, or VIX, rose 14.5% on Monday to touch 25.47, reflecting investor anxiety about further corrections.

BENGALURU: Amazon India on Tuesday said it has partnered Mahindra Electric to strengthen its commitment to electric mobility in the country, as it looks to add 10,000 electric vehicles in its local delivery fleet by 2025.
According to the e-commerce major, Mahindra’s Treo Zor vehicles have been deployed in seven cities--Bengaluru, New Delhi, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Indore, and Lucknow--so far, with Amazon India’s network of delivery service partners.

India’s Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) headed by defence minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday approved arms purchases worth ₹13,700 crore as the government continues steps to modernize the military.
“All these acquisition proposals will be indigenously designed, developed and manufactured. These will include inter-alia platforms and systems designed and developed by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO)," according to a government statement.

Zydus Cadila Ltd will expand capacity of its covid-19 vaccine ZyCoV-D to produce 150 million doses a year and hire contract manufacturers to make an additional 50 to 70 million doses, a company spokesperson said.
“We have been investing a large amount of our capacities in building the vaccine, so we will now be able to produce 150 million doses of the vaccine annually," the spokesperson said, adding that the vaccine will be produced at its Zydus Biotech Park plant in Ahmedabad.

Adani Enterprises Ltd has partnered EdgeConneX, a leading data center operator to develop 1 gigawatts (GW) of data centre capacity over the next decade.
