The Ukraine war must stop or we are bracing for an Armageddon, the terrible military battles spoken of by the the ancient Biblical scholars.

Most of us will recall being bombarded last winter with communications advising as to how we might save energy, both from a carbon neutral perspective and in the light of rocketing fuel prices.

This whole indaba about what was loaded or unloaded in the dead of night at the Simon’s Town Naval Base is so much in the dark that el Presidente Ramaphoria will institute a board of inquiry under the auspices of a retired judge in order to clear the air about what indeed transpired. He appears to have no idea!

Pol Yates complains about the results of the 2014 independence referendum and the 2016 Brexit referendum (Letters, 23 May). But both were examples of democracy.

In summary, all it really says is that the government will spend a lot of money and the citizens will pay a lot of taxes – 15 words.

The ANC and country certainly do not need leaders like Sisulu.

Wars are raging in many parts of the world and involved parties are using bureaucratic euphemisms such as “adequate response” and “retaliation” to sanitise different forms of murder.

If the only legitimate way to achieve Scottish independence is via a referendum which requires the permission of the UK Government then it is not going to happen, as neither of the main Westminster parties will grant it unless it is absolutely clear that the nationalists would not win.

Your columnist Alexander Brown says “...the SNP are not the only party that could play a role enabling a Labour government” and adds that Ed Davey’s Lib Dems are holding their cards close to their chests, while Stephen Flynn has note-0 hinted at the possibility of supporting Labour without the promise of an immediate referendum.
