How appropriate that as we read of council workers providing vital services being on strike, due to lack of available cash from the administration running Scotland, the SNP open another pretend embassy in Copenhagen.

Everyone should have the right to decide what they believe; choose the religion they want to follow and not be harassed and vilified for those beliefs.

In this season of electing leaders for our future, try to listen to the candidates' stories, even if it is only one or two. You may be surprised and enlightened by what symbols trigger the drive and passion of those who seek to lead. It just might change your mind about a candidate.

There are consequences for our decisions, and we deny this at great peril.

Tomassoni's passion, integrity, work ethic, daily positive attitude, perseverance and much more are great examples for us.

The question should not be, “What can we afford to do,” but “What can we afford not to do” if we are to remain a democracy.

So they force you out of your vehicle and drive away with it, but that’s not auto theft. I’m sure there is a logical explanation for that statement but they didn’t tell us.

I would like to extend my appreciation to the Brainerd Dispatch staff for their excellent coverage of local candidates leading up to Minnesota primary election day. Clearly a lot of planning and effort went into ensuring impartiality.

Whilst Sir John Kay has helped stimulate some debate on the question of the currency in an independent Scotland, his Edinburgh Book Festival talk reminds us just how complex this matter is (your report, 19 August).
