Chattanooga State Community College has been selected as one of 10 colleges nationwide to participate in the inaugural Racial Equity Leadership Academy. Presented through the Achieving the Dream network and the University of Southern California Race and Equity Center, with funding support from the Kresge Foundation and Greater Texas Foundation, the year-long program is scheduled to begin summer 2021.

Progress continues at the new Global Center for Digital Innovation, slated for opening this spring on the Chattanooga State campus
Chattanooga State Community College, in collaboration with Hamilton County Schools and the Public Education Foundation, have established the Global Center for Digital Innovation. With a planned opening during spring 2021, the 15,000 square foot GCDI will shine as a world-class center for innovation, creation, and production.
As the nation’s first K-College digital fabrication pathway, GCDI will empower students to fill emerging workforce needs such as entrepreneurship, digital fabrication and manufacturing while creating new pathways for innovation. This 21st century lab will provide opportunities for college faculty and area educators to attend or hold technical and skills workshops, and summer institutes. Students

In 2008, when the Volkswagen Group announced ‘It’s Chattanooga’ as its choice for their newest automobile assembly facility, Chattanooga State Community College was ready. Volkswagen’s strong commitment to education led to a Volkswagen/Chattanooga State collaboration, culminating in a new training facility at the plant named the Volkswagen Academy, home to the secondary and post-secondary mechatronics training programs.

Patrick O’Hagan, Chattanooga State’s interim director of the Kimball Site and program manager for contract training in the Economic & Workforce Development Division, was selected as a member of the Leadership Tennessee NEXT Class III (LTN).

Military veterans at Tennessee’s community and technical colleges were honored and awarded the inaugural Chancellor’s Commendation for Military Veterans. Jack Chislett, a Tennessee College of Applied Technology student in the Collision Repair Technology program, was selected as Chattanooga State’s recipient.
“Mr. Chislett exemplifies all of the characteristics we value, such as honor, courage, commitment, integrity, duty, respect, discipline and sacrifice,” stated Dr. Jim Barrott, executive vice president of TCAT.
