African National Congress (ANC) secretary-general Ace Magashule has called on Jacob Zuma’s critics to leave the former president alone.

Zuma has been mired in fresh controversy for his refusal to testify at the commission of inquiry into state capture.
The former head of state’s defiance comes in spite of the a Constitutional Court ruling ordering him to appear and testify at the commission..
Zuma is adamant that the commission’s chair, Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo, must recuse himself before he would considering telling his side of the state capture story.

ANC secretary-general Ace Magashule reacted defensively in an effort to deflect questions about Jacob Zuma s defiance of the State Capture Inquiry, saying the former president should not be suspended from the party for what he believes in. Leave president Zuma alone, Magashule said when asked about the ANC s reaction to Zuma s statement that he would defy a Constitutional Court order to appear in front of the Zondo Commission. He is not defying, Magashule told journalists, just leave him .

Magashule spoke to a huddle of journalists in front of the house of the late SACP stalwart, Rebecca Kotane, in Diepkloof, Soweto, on Wednesday afternoon, where he went to pay his respects.

Kotane was the widow of SA Communist Party leader Moses Kotane.
The ANC said in a statement her death came a few days before her 109th birthday.
“Mme Kotane was a comrade in her own right. She was one of the oldest stalwarts of our movement. She was the only remaining elder of the movement who was also the same age as the ANC.
“She will be remembered for her role in the defiance campaigns of the 1950s and the mobilisation towards the Congress of the People in 1955,” the ANC said in a statement.

JOHANNESBURG - Rebecca Kotane, anti-apartheid struggle hero and the wife of late South African Communist Party (SACP) secretary-general Moses Kotane, has passed away at the age of 108.
Kotane passed away on Sunday, 31 January, just a few days before her 109th birthday.
She was an active freedom fighter in her own right, notably taking part in the 1956 women s march to the Union Buildings as part of the defiance campaign.
Kotane has been described as fearless and selfless .
She was an important role-player in the historic Women s March to the Union Buildings in the 1950s.
Parliament has said it is mourning the loss of struggle stalwart Rebecca Kotane, and described her as selfless and brave .
