it s exactly right for democrats to say, no, we believe in fair, nondiscriminatory policing. we believe in bringing police and communities together. one thing i learned as mayor, that work is really sacred to do and it s far from finished. we had air real disconnect in 2020 because of the pandemic, because of the protests around the country. healing and rebonding police and communities is what s needed now but you got to talk about it. you got to put that front and center, no, we are not interested in defunding. we re interested in rebonding and going the next step, see, one of the things that s so striking is at the community level every day there are people fighting violence, there are people fighting violence. they need our support. we tripled funding in new york city for violence interrupters, it brought shootings down in those communities deeply. democrats need to talk solution, and i think to your point, if the republicans are throwing at you, defund and it s not true
