The declaration began on Aug. 3 and will be in effect for the next 60 days.
Vaccinated and unvaccinated visitors to Henry County facilities, including employees, are required to wear a face mask, submit to temperature screenings and adhere to social distancing requirements.
Board of Commissioners Chair Carlotta Harrell said the county will follow Centers for Disease Control recommendations, which include mask wearing indoors for both vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals if in a high transmission area.
Henry County has been deemed such by the Georgia Department of Health due to the increase in COVID-19 infections.
âI have to do whatâs necessary for the residents of the county,â Harrell said. âWe have to start somewhere, and weâll continue to make determinations based on data to hopefully get this spike under control.â

McDONOUGH â Henry County is one step closer to bringing its judicial functions under one roof.
The Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a resolution to allow the county manager to proceed with a request for proposals to build a new judicial center at 143 Henry Pkwy., also known as Red Hawk Park.
The 19.5-acre tract of land will allow for the construction of a judicial complex, offering potentially 100,000 square feet of space per floor, a parking deck, sheriffâs administration space, inmate housing and room for future expansion.
There are currently three court locations and nine court-related agencies spread out in different buildings throughout the county.
