The Commission on Human Rights (CHR) on Saturday underscored that public servants who resorted to red-tagging have contradicted their obligation to protect and promote the public’s constitutional rights.
Instead of baselessly linking groups as fronts for communist rebels that puts them in danger, officials who have been red-tagging them should just file appropriate complaints, outgoing Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said.
“We will take legal action due to harassment, when necessary, to protect the welfare of our constituents, especially our students,” UP Mindanao Chancellor Lyre Anni Murao said.
