Following a public hearing on Monday for a proposed new rental ordinance, the Bemidji City Council elected to table the topic to allow for further discussion.

After months of studies and public input, the Beltrami County Board of Commissioners made the decision on Tuesday, Nov. 15, to build a new jail to replace the current facility that no longer meets state standards.

All three GOP candidates prevailed over DFL challengers. Incumbent House Rep. Steve Green won the District 2 Senate seat, and incumbents Matt Grossell and Matt Bliss will return to the House of Representatives.

The race to represent Minnesota House 2A was won by GOP incumbent Matt Grossell, who defeated DFL challenger Reed Olson to gain a fourth term.
