Looking for in that room is a coherent strategy for taking on the biggest challenges around the globe. whether that is climate change or refugee problems or rogue nations with nuclear weapons, the world looked to the united states to organize a coherent strategy. as you point out, andrea, there is a distinct lack of coherence in this strategy president trump pointed out today. on the one hand, hes suggested to north korea that they need to work with the united nations to denuclearize the korean ...

There is a method to the process. you are keeping the north koreans on their own heels. your hearing statements from president trump about fire and fury, comments from secretary tillerson and mattis. one thing he said during the campaign and recently was he doesnt want to telegraph exactly what we are going to do, but there has to be a verbal response to the north koreans because thats what they do understand. at the same time, the chinese know a very specific dynamic like the thaad system in so...

Counter this? >> we import half of venezuelas oil, that is what the country depends upon. the risky and powerful move would be to put an embargo in venezuelas oil but it is risky because that could mean total economic collapse and major refugee problems. it might be effective but going overboard in the short term. eric: getting the legislature is a move toward abject dictatorship. what is the mood? i was at the hotel in the ballroom. all day hundreds of young couples streaming into the ballroom....

Beautifully making is that that tweet did not defend him against any of the charges that were being discussed. it really just slapped around a woman based on her appearance. he wasnt defending himself. he was just swiping at her. if he wants to defend himself against the criticisms of "morning joe" or whomever, do that substantively. do it through your white house, your spokespeople. dont go on twitter like a 16-year-old bully in someones basement and take a swap at someones cosmetic surgery rum...

Sense that we dont have enough time scale to see what this will all mean. weve just had this big iran deal that very well could be a strategic leap into a very new kind of framework and set of realities in the region. syria, of course, continues to hemorrhage and cause massive refugee problems and a real confidence problem. what i think people get away from is the arab situation is fundamentally not an american problem to fix. its an arab problem to fix. that needs to be part of the equation. >>...
