Global giants Nestle and Unilever are under increasing pressure to pull out of Russia with thousands of their workers at risk of being conscripted into the Ukraine war.

The Anglo-Dutch company Unilever, widely represented in the global food products and household chemicals markets, has said that it will comply with Russian legislation on conscription if its Russian employees are conscripted into the army.

UK consumer goods giant Unilever has said its employees in Russia could be conscripted into the country’s army.

The company has faced criticism for its decision to continue to sell products and pay taxes in Russia following the country's invasion of Ukraine.

The Cornetto maker says it will comply with Russian law to permit staff to be conscripted.

The food giant, which owns Marmite and Dove soap, said it was aware of the Russian law requiring any company operating in Russia to permit the conscription of employees should they be called.
