Huron Perth public health on Saturday reported the region’s 49th COVID-related death.
Barbara Leavitt, the director of population health with Huron Perth public health, said the death was someone associated with Caressant Care Nursing Home in Listowel who had recovered from active COVID infection in late January.

“However, it is still counted in the COVID death counts, as the person may have been experiencing residual effects or complications from the infection,” she said. “Their COVID infection may have contributed to their death but was not the underlying cause of death.”

A long-term care resident in Huron and Perth counties who was moved to an area hospital due to COVID-19 has died, public health officials have confirmed.
Miriam Klassen, the region’s medical officer of health, offered her condolences to the person’s loved ones during a press conference Thursday.

As myFM reported recently, there is a positive case of COVID-19 at London Bridge: Relouw Early Childhood Learning Centre in Exeter.
Huron Perth Public Health Medical Officer of Health Dr. Miriam Klassen confirmed via emailed one confirmed case and two probable cases.
Co-Executive Director with London Bridge Angela Woodburn spoke with myFM about the steps taken for the centre.
