installed cameras. in the area around the courthouse. meanwhile conversations between the u. s marshals, secret service and nypd are ongoing. let's bring in cnn law enforcement analyst and former secret service agent jonathan wackrow. good to see you again, jonathan. i just want to point of view. first of all, especially just, you know, from your experience if you are or were one of trump's secret service agents. what would you how would you be prepared preparing right now? well, listen, i mean the preparations by the secret service, you know, for one, the pending indictment. now we know that the arrest will occur on tuesday has been ongoing for a while, but it's really important in that preparation. what the role of the secret services and their role and remit on tuesday is a little bit different than we normally see with the agency. typically we see the secret service acting as the lead coordinating entity in terms of
tv, but in other ways, they were incredible tv because they weren't modulated and edited and they weren't professional. they were very kind of, very punk. and so, our first idea was a show that highlighted, compiled clips of these public—access shows. they weren't restricted by a remit to educate and entertain. they were just unto themselves. and did you see... you mentioned educate and entertain — that's obviously part of the sort of reithian bbc values. yeah. did you have a problem with them? i think you said that you thought it was a bit patronising, or very patronising. well, i do think it's patronising, to the extent that there was no opportunity for anything else. and i do think there was a fear in britain that television was this anarchic force that needed to be controlled, for the good of the people. and for better or worse, in america, they didn't look at it that way, and they were fine with — anyone who wants to be on tv can be on tv.
need time to prepare, so the coordination was most likely between the d. a s office and the nypd. ideally you wouldn't want a arraignment on a friday. you know? should there be large crowds, you know that made transcend into any type of civil unrest. you don't want that bleeding into the weekend. you want to be able to be prepared earlier in the week. you have a law enforcement all the law enforcement stakeholders coordinated and able to address any type of issue that rises now to that point, nypd is focused around the courthouse, but they have a remit citywide and you know, there could be incidents that happened outside of trump tower on. you know, monday evening, there could be things that happen over you know, after the former president departs, so they have the remit of the entire city, so they want to make sure that they are prepared. but to the to your question again, the secret service did not ask for any type of delay. that's just that's just not true. and jonathan, let me ask you this. if the case

moves on to trial, i suppose you'll have a situation where the secret service is going to have to be. they're moving him and in and out of the courtroom as this trial progresses. how is that going to be, um handled by the secret service. i mean, they're just gonna have to deal with it, i guess. yeah, well, listen, jimmy, we're in uncharted territory here, right ? we've never had a secret service protectee be charged with, you know a crime like this , so but if you take a step back and think about what is the remit of the secret service, it's to provide protection of that protectee, and that is not going to change their protective methodology. you know, for the former president doesn't change whatsoever. the way that they have to work out logistics work with other law enforcement stakeholders, court officers court appearances. you know that's a logistical issue, but from the primary responsibility of protection, it's just another day in in in their job. i mean, they they'll they'll do it, they'll execute it flawlessly. all right, jonathan wagner, and
whiled is hopefully what will not happen. it will be very interesting, but we hope that the crowds and that there's peaceful protests and nothing gets out of control. but from the secret service standpoint, you know, sources have told me you know for now, a few weeks as they prepared for you know, tuesday's event is that you know, they really want this to be administrative from the point of view of the secret service, right? they want to remain in their primary remit, which is the protection of the former president into that point. what they secret service has not done is they have not asked for any special accommodations within the court. in terms of their standard processing. why because the secret service is not taking a full coordinating role in the security plan on tuesday, and i think that's a really important role. what they want to do is they want to just actually focus on the primary responsibility of getting the former president to the courthouse? let him do his business before the court and from the courthouse safely and
