Senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh told reporters that the Opposition camp was apprehensive about Remote EVMs, and those concerns would be shared with the poll body.

The Election Commission has also invited all recognised eight national and 57 regional political parties to demonstrate the functioning of the multi-constituency prototype Remote EVM.

The Congress has opposed the concept since the smaller parties will not be able to depute the polling agents to check corruption in such voting.

While showing its excessive obsession with technology, the Election Commission has disregarded not just RTIs but also often repeated questions on the sanctity of EVMs and the guarantee of their fairness to all voters.

The multi-constituency remote EVM, developed by a public sector undertaking, can handle up to 72 constituencies from a single remote polling booth  

The Election Commission of India is ready to pilot remote voting for domestic migrants. It has developed prototype Multi-Constituency Remote Electronic Voting Machine (RVM), which can handle multiple constituencies from a single remote polling booth.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) today said that, in association with a renowned public ssector undertaking, it is now ready to pilot a Multi Constituency Remote Electronic Voting Machine (RVM) for facilitating participation of domestic migrants in the elections.

ECI has developed a prototype Multi-Constituency Remote Electronic Voting Machine and has invited political parties for demonstration of the prototype RVM.
