Parts of El Reno and Union City are now in their eighth day without water service. El Reno Mayor Matt White says OG&E s rolling blackouts during last week s winter storm impacted the water plants without warning. White noted that plants haven t caught up after power was restored, and leaks and freezing have affected some residential lines. Residents are being asked to conserve what water they have while crews work to restore service.

In the wake of this week’s damage to the state s water infrastructure, Oklahoma could soon face mandatory boil orders. Environment officials anticipate the damage and response will continue for weeks.
The Department of Environmental Quality issued a release on Thursday, warning that precautionary boil advisories could increase in coming days, and that mandatory boil orders are possible.
The release advised Oklahomans with extremely low water pressure or total water loss to notify their water service provider as quickly as possible and follow these recommendations:
Once the water comes back on, flush the water for five minutes or until fresh, clear water comes out of the tap.

City crews in El Reno are working around the clock to restore water.
A rolling black out early Tuesday morning, without notice from OG&E, halted the city’s water service.
El Reno Mayor Matt White told News 9 generators kicked on but could not get going fast enough to be able to keep up. The outage happened during a peak usage time in the city.
No equipment was damaged during the blackout, White said.
It’s been two days since water last flowed out of Bonnie Warren’s faucet. She’s frustrated with OG&E.
“Everybody’s upset, very upset,” said Warren. “If they would of given some kind of notice so people could of really got water and stuff what they really needed, well people around here probably wouldn’t be in a mess like they are right now.”
