of the vote is that if this vote is delayed one or two weeks that only gives more time for people who rely on obamacare in states like nevada to keep up the pressure on governor sandoval, on senator dean heller and to oppose this bill. and you don t really have forces on the other side who are coming out in those one or two weeks and saying, oh, okay. these are all the great reasons why this isn t going to affect medicaid recipients in a state like nevada. right. you re seeing such an escalation here. so, shannon, this white house needs a win. they re having a hard time getting a legislative win on health care. we ll see what happens. this delay yet again. and we ll see what the reaction is to the cbo score when that comes later this week. at the same time, despite the president tweeting otherwise, this is a very bad approval rating number that has just come
incentivized to put people on the rolls. you have to get a handle on this or will end up hurting more people if you don t deal with the growth of medicaid, an unsustainable rate. here is what i m not done yet. okay. look, you also have to deal with the fact that we are hurting families across this country. there s a huge swath of families who have way high deductible. their premiums are insane. they re paying more than they pay on their mortgages. we re hurting more people right now by not getting this done. i sat with those families. i sat with a couple in kentucky who said it s over $800 a month for us. we can t afford it. i hear you. look at these new numbers from this abc poll that are revealing. half of americans still want obamacare, just in a little bit different form. 50% want obamacare. 24% want the gop proposals that are out there right now.
additional vote. four other senators tell nbc news they re undecided on the new bill. and the president is tweeting about it this morning saying lawmakers need to get to work on replacing obamacare. i believe he called those republicans wonderful. msnbc s gar et headache ek is f story for us. how is this bill different and how could it move forward? reporter: the first part of your question, there s a bunch of structural changes in here to make conservatives happy. they put this amendment in to make ted cruz happy, allowing cheaper plans that don t cover as much and allowing people to use hsas to pay for their premiums. they re also sort of throwing money at the problem of getting more moderates onboard. they ve upped the amount of money they want to spend on open yoids to $45 billion from $2 billion. there s about a $70 billion fund to offset some of the costs that are going to go to different
administration. to your point, it s always good for him to go overseas. these foreign trips allow him to push the reset button and this is his third trip to europe. for some reason, when americans see him through an international lens, he appears as more presidential and he can perhaps sidestep some of these question questions. harris: president obama tended to look more presidentia presidential. there is a lot of grandiose preparation and behavior when he was out. what s so interesting is one of the key point of making america great again was repealing replacing obamacare. that is playing out while he is in france. if those reporters don t pick up on that as far as domestic issues aside from russia, i m
saying that, you know, look, we acknowledge that actually, we never thought trump would even get elected. we were caught flat footed. we have just been basically opposing obamacare all this time, but we did not have time to put together a plan. let s go back to the drawing board. whether that looks like something that compromises with democrats or another pass at a republican plan, i m just not sure it will ultimately make it through the senate. real quick, shannon says it s a fantasy that democrats will get on board with this. do you agree with it? i totally agree they will never get on board with replacing obamacare. i think they would totally get on board with fixing some of the things that need to be fixed like shoring up the individual market. heidi, thank you very much. shannon as well from bloomberg. coming up the mystery eight decades old that may now maybe be newly solved. we ll be right back after this.
