The Gujarat High Court on Tuesday expressed its displeasure over the state government’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, noting the entire exercise lacks “transparency” and pointed to the death of patients outside hospitals due to “non-attendance by doctors”.
The court also advised against imposing a lockdown and said it is not a solution to fight the pandemic.
The HC asked the Gujarat government to direct hospitals to admit all COVID-19 patients approaching them instead of just those coming through ‘108’ (helpline) ambulance service.
With the addition of new cases, the count of infections in the state has gone up to 5,24,725 while the death toll reached 6,656, the state health department said.
