Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan clarified that not a single post will be de-reserved and there is no scope for ambiguity about reservations after the introduction of the Central Educational Institutions (Reservation in Teachers Cadre) Act, 2019.

The Ministry of Education (MoE) clarified that draft guidelines by the University Grants Commission (UGC) proposing de-reservation of reserved posts in higher education institutes have drawn criticism. The Congress alleged a conspiracy to end reservation for SC, ST, and OBC candidates. The JNU Students Union announced a protest against the UGC Chairman.

Speaking to ET, NCBC chairman Hansraj Gangaram Ahir said, "We conducted a review and all senior officials of Delhi government, including chief secretary Naresh Kumar, were present. They have accepted that there is a backlog and posts reserved for OBCs have not been filled." The data shows 310 Group A posts, 1,903 Group B and 2,467 Group C posts meant for OBCs have to be filled.
