Howard University junior Ayiana Newcombe recently completed an eight-week internship program with the Elgin Police Department through a program desinged to introduce law enforcement careers to students at historically black colleges and universities.

Elgin police officers returned Tuesday to the site of a deadly shooting to assure residents at the apartment complex that they are safe and that resources are available if they need them.
