Peterborough, Ont.'s Community FIRST property-crime pilot project responded to almost 200 calls as Feb. 8 and made 58 arrests. It also helped recover stolen property in 55 cases.

In December, city council approved a $4.6 million, 15-per-cent annual funding increase for Peterborough’s police force.

The Community-Focused Investigation and Response Support Team will consist of four officers tasked with just investigating property crimes which have risen 28 per cent since 2018.
