Indicators of COVID-19 transmission appear to be on track to allow Illinois to transition to move the state to the “bridge phase” of economic reopening sometime next week, Gov. JB Pritzker said Monday.
“It feels to me, it looks to me, if you look at the hospital admissions data, like we’re in decent shape and moving exactly as I would hope we would toward the bridge phase,” the governor said at a news conference in Chicago.
Pritzker also said the Illinois State Fair in Springfield will go on as planned Aug. 12-22, after a year’s hiatus because of the pandemic, “barring some highly unusual event occurring that would prevent a large gathering. This is a very large fairgrounds.

More than 2,300 students at SIUE will graduate during the course of the next couple of weeks. There will be a series of 10 outdoor, in-person ceremonies at Korte Stadium during the University’s 2021 Spring Commencement exercises.
To adhere to the state’s Restore Illinois Plan, as well as local health and safety protocols, SIUE split ceremonies into smaller groups of approximately 150 graduates with limited guests. University spokesman Doug McIlhagga tells The Big Z it all begins this weekend.

It s been more than a year, but this summer, live music and meaningful, safe ways to connect with our chosen friends and family is coming back. Organizers said they are following a prudent health and safety plan that follows the strict yet sensible Restore Illinois Plan. Capacity limitations are expected to be in place, but among the safety protocols currently in store are a requirement that attendees be vaccinated or have a negative COVID test within three days of the event, that all attendees wear masks when not eating or drinking, that all guests and staff complete a health pass.
