Lidl in North Glasgow applies for permission to install return point

A LIDL store in North Glasgow has applied for permission to install a deposit return scheme pod. The supermarket, at Stronend Street, has applied to Glasgow City Council to install the return point. It would enable customers to return their single-use packaging drinks. This is to help enable the company to meet obligations under the Scottish Deposit and Return Scheme, which was passed by the Scottish Parliament in May 2020. The scheme is expected to begin in July next year. It requires the payment of a 20 pence deposit to be paid by consumers when purchasing all single-use packaging drinks. Retailers will be required to operate a “return point”.
