People confuse sympathy with empathy, ‘thank you’ with gratitude. To say ‘thank you’ is to discharge yourself of a debt. As an attitude of gratitude campaigner, I give little bits of myself with each thank you sincerely given. This week, I found myself in need of healing for myself. Reaching out found that the Rev Jill Bentall was available and free, devoting a total of three hours. I am beyond indebted to her. To be a healer is to listen attentively to another till one is lighter for having shared their burden. Rev Andy Fitchet was similarly a source of comfort and understanding today.
