Training event held for rehabilitation of young prisoners after release Karachi January 30, 2021 The Society for the Protection of the Rights of the Child (SPARC) on Thursday organised a comprehensive training session for the probation and parole staff and other relevant government officials for providing support to young people in prisons and under probation in Sindh. Speaking to the participants, Dr Muhammad Usman Chachar, the Sindh home department additional chief secretary, said the provincial government had been taking proactive steps to improve the criminal justice system and implement the laws. “It is highly appreciable that the need is being realised for capacity building of probation staff and other linked departments to improve support for youth in conflict with law,” he said. Abdul Kabir Kazi, the Sindh Education Foundation (SEF) managing director, said the provincial government was committed to uplifting and empowering the youth.

Asma group bags Lahore bar president's slot - Newspaper

LAHORE: The annual elections for district and tehsil bar associations were held across the province on Saturday. Malik Sarood of the Independent Group, famously known as the late Asma Jahangir group, was elected president of the Lahore Bar Association in a one-on-one contest, securing 2,544 votes against 2,503 of Rao Sami of the Hamid Khan-led Professional Group. After the announcement of the results, lawyers celebrated victories of their candidates on different seats and resorted to aerial firing besides dancing to drumbeats. Rana Shahid Hussain and M.H. Shaheen were elected vice presidents with 2,410 and 2,201 votes, respectively. Rana Kausar Sulehri and Irfan A. Khichi were elected on one each seat of vice president from Model Town courts and Cantonment courts, respectively.
