Fermanagh musicians came together from afar in a virtual Hootenanny-style concert for Cancer Connect NI

FERMANAGH musicians came together virtually this Christmas in a Jools Holland’s Hootenanny-style online concert, raising more than £1,000 for a local cancer charity in the process. Hosted by Dublin-based Fermanagh musician Stephen Brennan, the Christmas Livestream Concert in aid of Cancer Connect NI took place on Tuesday, December 22 at 8pm via Facebook. The event saw live performances from Stephen himself, along with appearances from other talented Fermanagh musicians including Laytha (Niamh Carney and Philana Nolan), Chris Armstrong and Richard Ireson. Clare, Shauna and Clodagh McMorrow were joined by Luke Burns and Francis McNally for a traditional session, while members of Enniskillen Light Operatic brought a taste of musical theatre to the concert with a selection of songs from hit shows.

Local musicians to hold virtual charity fundraiser Posted: 5:05 pm December 22, 2020 By Linda Surphlis FERMANAGH musicians have come together in a fundraising bid for charity.   Tonight, Tuesday 22 December a Jools Holland ‘Hootenanny’ style event will be held virtually via the Stephen Brennan Music Facebook page, with the aim of raising £500 for Cancer Connect NI.  A wide array of musicians will take part in the event with all genres covered, from rock to jazz and renditions of pieces from musicals. There is also a festive cook along with viewers given a chance to follow along with some mince pie baking.  Organiser Stephen Brennan said the event would not have been possible without the help of some excellent musicians who came together relatively last minute to play the show.

Fermanagh musicians are to come together virtually this Christmas to help raise money for charity in a Jools Holland s Hootenanny style online concert. Hosted by Dublin-based Fermanagh musician Stephen Brennan, the Christmas Livestream Concert in aid of Cancer Connect NI will take place on Tuesday, December 22 from 8pm via Facebook. I wanted to get Fermanagh musicians involved and raise money for Cancer Connect NI, Stephen told this newspaper. Outlining some of the acts that will be performing during the event, Stephen said: We have Richard Ireson, Luke Burns, Caimin O Shea and Aaron Wilson. We also have Niamh and Philana (Laytha) and Roisin Burns, who would be regulars on the Fermanagh gig circuit. We ve got quite a lot of acts that are musicians who were playing in bands that have broken up and they ll be playing together for the first time [in a while].
