KJAS in Jasper, TX, reports that a man who was fishing in the Major League Fishing Tournament on Lake Sam Rayburn drowned yesterday.
Officers with Texas Parks & Wildlife, said the incident occurred near San Augustine Park, which is located on the east side of the lake.
Officers said the man was standing in the boat and fell in the water while it was sitting still with the engine off. Reportedly, game wardens in a boat used side-scan radar to locate the manâs body at the bottom of the lake.
The name of the deceased has not been released and at last word game wardens were attempting to locate the manâs girlfriend, who lives in the Mansfield area, near Shreveport. The man is reported as having no next-of-kin in Texas.
We reported on Monday that a teen drowned while fishing at the Dam B reservoir spillway Sunday afternoon. The volunteers of the Jasper County Emergency Corps as well as Officers from the Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife and the Jasper County Sheriff s Department were called to the location on the south end of the lake shortly before 7:00 p.m., when it was reported that the incident had occurred.
Game wardens recovered the body in an area between the flood gates and the Willis Hydroelectric Unit.
Complete details are not available, but it appeared that the victim of the drowning and others had walked to the location from the east side of the dam.
