Assistant Director for Corrections Vicky White, 56, and inmate, Casey White, 38, vanished Friday after they left together from an Alabama jail.

A wanted former Alabama corrections officer and an escaped inmate facing capital murder charges have both been located.

Both were apprehended alive in Indiana, and Casey White has been returned to custody, Sheriff Rick Singleton said.

Alabama corrections officer Vicky White has died due to her injuries, Sheriff Dave Wedding of Vanderburgh County has confirmed. She was hospitalized earlier on Monday with "very serious" self-inflicted gunshot wounds after being taken into custody following a chase in Indiana.

The former corrections officer now faces three charges as a result of aiding in Casey Whites prison escape on April 29.

The Sheriff said the Ford Edge with distinctive burnt orange paint was found on a roadside and towed the same day that Casey and Vicky disappeared.
