Parker, the puppy who fell into the River Eden in Carlisle yesterday, did not make it. It is understood that the six-month-old puppy’s body was found near Rickerby Golf Course. He was swept away while out walking with his owners in Rickerby Park yesterday.
Puppy swept away in River Eden
A puppy has been swept away in the River Eden in Carlisle this afternoon.
His owner’s family has issued an urgent plea on Facebook for people to look out for the six-month-old Labrador puppy, Parker.
He was being walked by Amy Holliday’s brother Ben Allan and her niece Faye Allan when he fell in on the Stoneyholme side of the suspension bridge in Rickerby Park at around noon.
Cumbria police said: “We are asking the public not to put themselves in danger following reports received to police of people searching along the bank of the River Eden in Carlisle.
Cumbria Fire Service Warnings have been issued after the public joined a desperate search to find a puppy which fell into the Eden River today.
Carlisle East and West fire stations were called to Rickerby Park, near the suspension bridge, where a couple had been walking their Golden Labrador puppy this morning. A fire spokesman said: The male had jumped into the water after the pup but couldn t get him. He got out of the water and they rang the Fire Service. By the time we got there the puppy had disappeared and we were unable to find him. He said realistically the dog would have been unlikely to survive the cold temperatures of the water.
