Strand: city of Ridgecrest opening back up gradually Ridgecrest Daily Independent With Kern County now in the orange tier of COVID-19 restrictions, the city of Ridgecrest is gradually opening back up, according to City Manager Ron Strand. Strand gave the China Lake Rotary Club an update during a Zoom meeting Wednesday. Baseball leagues are back playing on the Kerr McGee ballfield. Look for the Kerr McGee Center to reopen for youth and adult basketball and volleyball when Kern County makes it to the yellow tier. The city is taking reservations for two summer camp sessions: June 1 to July 2 and July 5 to August 6.
