KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit was broadly lower against the US dollar in the early session today as risk-off sentiment would continue to dominate the local note direction.

KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit reversed yesterday’s gains and ended lower against the US dollar on Friday, tracking other Asian currencies as the risk aversion wave by equities as well as higher US Treasury yields saw investors pile into US dollars.

GEORGE TOWN: Despite a sharp rise in sales during the Raya week, traders are still playing it safe and are not rushing to stock up.

KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit is sharply higher against the US dollar in the early session today amid a significant increase in the US Federal Fund Rate (FFR) of 50 basis points.

AGAINST the fall in the ringgit, the medium-term outlook is positive, buoyed by among other factors, strong commodity prices and a healthy current account surplus with strong exports growth.

After two weeks of prolonged volatility, the ringgit is expected to stabilise next week due to prospects of a sharper interest rate hikes by the US Federal Reserve.
