A new California law going into effect this summer will require bars to have drink testing kits available to patrons who may suspect something may have been put in their drinks.
Ministers are investigating self-testing kits so nightclubs and the police can tell straight away whether drinks have been spiked, as part of a new crackdown on the scourge.
Needle spiking is when a person is injected with a drug without their consent. Reports started to emerge in the UK in 2021 but this has now been reported around the world, including in Australia.
